No Progress is Still Progress

Charles and I spent the weekend in Jackson with David.  He continued to just chillax with his "hands"....sleeping, eating, and pooping.  A lot of what a term baby does as this point...just in a different way, and while hooked up to a CPAP machine.  His weight is continuing to increase and as of yesterday, he was up to 4 pounds and 10.5 ounces.  He's getting some rolls and even has a little double chin...I just love it.

One of our favorite doctors is making his rotation again and I am so glad.  He always makes us feel more positive about David's progress and what lies ahead.  He mentioned being able to try high flow again during his time, so hopefully that is something we will do in the next week or so.  Because David is 34 weeks gestation now, they will also start trying bottles at some of his feedings once we get back on the nasal cannula.  They will let mom and dad give bottles as well, so I am looking forward to be able to participate a little bit more in his care.

The progress is slower now, and sometimes that can make me feel as if we aren't progressing at all.  However, no progress forward is also no steps backward, and that is a blessing!  We are moving at a snail's pace it seems, but if that is what David needs than that is what we will do!

David had his eye exam this morning, so we must pray that it is normal and that he did well....the nurse said it can be pretty stressful for the little ones... Also pray that we can wean the oxygen down.  It is so important that we can get the O2 down with him having fewer de- sat spells so we can finally move forward with our respiratory issues.

Partying with his hands...all the moving squished the mask down on his face.  He's obviously ready to move on from that thing as well!

Sleeping like a rock with his hands and his little arm fat rolls!
